In the summer of 2016, Northern India was devastated by flooding. Monsoon rains affected more than 6 million people and killed at least 300 as rivers overflowed in 5 different northern states. Bihar State authorities confirmed that 119 people had died and at least 150,000 people were being sheltered in relief camps. Fields were flooded, huts were collapsed, and many people had to be hospitalized with Typhoid, fevers, and skin ailments from the flooding. The poor became poorer, and food became scarce.
Global Assist was able to send funds to a National Organization in Bihar, who were already working to serve the needy and sick.
